Getting A Haircut at Walt Disney World’s Harmony Barber Shop
Did you know you can get your haircut at Walt Disney World? Who wouldn’t want to look their best when greeting all of their favorite princesses and taking thousands of photos! Read on to find out what Matt’s experience was like at Harmony Barber Shop in the Magic Kingdom.
Booking A Reservation

Just like with dining reservations, you can book a reservation for the Harmony Barber Shop 60 days before your trip. A limited number of walk-in appointments are available on a first-come, first-serve basis each day, but rather than chance it, we went ahead and logged in to the app at 7:00am 60 days before our trip to make sure Matt could get in.

We were able to get an appointment for 3:20 on a Friday through the app and a credit card was required when we booked (and we obviously had to have passes to get into the Magic Kingdom Park as that is where the Barbershop is located).
Things To Know
Outside the Barber Shop right as the park opened.
Guests of all ages are welcome.
Water may be sprayed on hair if needed during styling, but no shampooing will be provided (there are no shampoo bowls). With that in mind, please arrive with clean, dry hair.
Guests under 17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18 years of age or older).
Gratuity is not included and is cash only.
A $10 charge will apply for no-shows or cancellations within one day of your reservation. Your credit card will not be charged before your visit.
Harmony Barber Shop hours are not affected by Extra Magic Morning hours.
They are open 9:00am-4:45pm every day.
One of the stylists told us that they have been operating since 1971 and have moved locations once.
All Harmony Barber Shop stylists are state-licensed cosmetologists. Our stylist told us that there was a time where only men were allowed to cut hair in the shop but that has since changed.
Our confirmation email recommended checking in 15 minutes prior to our reservation.
A limited number of party members may be able to sit in an adjacent seating area. There were a ton of people watching baby’s get their first haircut and it is a really small shop.
Young children must be able to remain seated still in order to complete the service.
Wheelchair and ECV accessible; however, Guest must be able to transfer for this experience.
Disney’s PhotoPass service will not be available.
There are no Passholder discounts.
It is located in the Magic Kingdom to the left of the Emporium as you begin your walk down Main Street. Just look for the classic striped barber pole out front!

The Experience
We arrived per the instructions in our confirmation email about 15 minutes prior to our appointment time. Our appointment was at 3:20 and the afternoon parade actually started at the other end of the park at 3:00. The parade ends right in front of the barber shop so I got to watch the whole thing go by from inside while Matt got his haircut so that was pretty neat to experience!
When we arrived, we checked in at the front desk and waited only a moment while Matt’s stylist swept up the hair from her last client. The other chairs were all occupied with infants getting their first haircuts.
Matt was greeted by his stylist, and she introduced herself and asked if he had any particular style in mind. He showed her a photo and she got him a cape and started by spraying his hair with water. I asked if I could take a photo and she invited me to take photos or videos or whatever I would like.
Meanwhile, the other stylists were working with the kiddos. They had everything you could think of to make this a pleasant experience. They had bubble wands to entertain the kids, or toy cars. They also made sure that mom and dad got to keep some of the hair from the first haircut and they got a special certificate saying it was their first haircut along with a case to keep it from getting all bent and messed up.
One the kiddos first haircut was complete, they got some “pixie dust” or glitter in their hair if they wanted (along with anyone else in their party who wanted some). A little hairspray and some glitter and they were all set! The stylists took photos with the child and family or for the child and family. They also provided the children with specialized “my first haircut” Mickey Mouse ears as a part of this experience. And of course they had stickers at the ready to pass out as well.
As the kids finished up, their families raced outside to see the parade go by. It was a really neat way to experience the parade and honestly not super crowded so a great place to watch it next time (most people are by the castle or on Main Street).

Just as the parade finished up, Matt’s stylist finished as well. He sadly declined the pixie dust, so we went over to the register to pay. We paid for his haircut, and then gave his stylist a tip in cash. Honestly at only $21 for the haircut, you really can’t beat it.

It may not be as fancy as Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, but it was a fun, unique, and practical experience. It was a good price, was easy to book, and from start to finish took about 17 minutes out of our park day. How many people can say they have had their haircut at Walt Disney World?
