Oga's Cantina in Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort

With our bartender and our delicious libations.

If you are a Star Wars fan, then you simply have to check out Oga’s Cantina when visiting Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. This reservation only hotspot is not easy to get in to and it took us two trips to actually get a reservation! Read on to find out about our experience and to find out if this is something you need to include in your Disney trip.

Getting In

60 days before your trip at approximately 6:00 am, set an alarm because dining reservations will open, and you will be able to book a reservation for Oga’s Cantina. I would recommend setting your clock for 5:55 am so that you can make sure you are logged in and that you are on the restaurant page and ready to go. I have missed the opportunity to make the reservation before, so I would also recommend checking a few days in advance and every day leading up to the day of (the 60-day mark that is) to make sure there has not been a glitch and that the day you are trying to reserve has not already become available. You can book your reservation on the My Disney Experience App, on the website disneyworld.disney.go.com, or by calling (407) 939-5277.

A credit card is required to book your reservation and you must cancel in advance or you will be charged a per person fee.

If you do not get a reservation when booking this way fear not! You can keep checking through the My Disney Experience App as often as you would like, but the week of your trip and especially the day of your visit, people are likely to cancel. You have up until two hours before your reservation time to cancel without penalty, so keep trying. You can also try walking up and joining the Walk Up List when you are in the park (this did not work for us as they were at capacity for the day). You can also try to do this on the app the day of.

You should check in 15 minutes before your reservation and everyone in your party must be with you.

The Ambiance

The entrance.

Once you have checked in and your space is ready, you follow your cast member inside and to your reserved area. It feels like you are literally in one of the movies the decor is so spectacular and the ambience is so captivating. The music was really loud and was coming from a droid DJ (DJ Rex or R-3X previously from Star Tours) over in one area of the bar.

You either got to stand around the bar, stand around tables just a few feet away from the bar, or if you had a large party, you got to sit down around the edges of the bar. There were a few barstools around the very edges of the bar, but we were in the center of the bar and were standing. For the price and since this was sort of a lounge or rest moment for us, we were a little surprised and disappointed. The air conditioning was on full blast though and was a great break from the Florida heat and humidity outside.

Our space at the bar as we walked up. We were a party of 4.

It is also booked to capacity so be prepared to be really close to your neighbor at the bar. This was another downside for us as we felt like we were fighting crowds everywhere we went and were hoping for a break from this. We had our little spots and the bar and tried to stay right in our own space.

The bar.

As the cast member walks you to your designated area, you are told that you have a 45-minute time limit. They deposit you at your reserved space, and the bartender quickly welcomes you and offers you some menus. They always do such a great job staying in character and refer to you as “travelers”. They also lay down cool disposable coasters that I absolutely took home as a scrapbook souvenir.

The Offerings

They gave you time to look over the menu and offered their favorites if you asked them. Before you make your choice just be aware that they do not accept the Disney dining plan. They had a surprising variety of options, and even had non-alcoholic beverages for the underage travelers.

  • 9 Concoctions with alcohol

  • 7Concoctions without alcohol

  • 1 Provision with alcohol

  • 1 Provision without alcohol

  • 4 Beers on tap

  • 1 Cider on tap

  • 2 Wines on tap

  • 2 Snacks

  • A Souvenir sipper you can add on to any beverage

The Outer Rim

My parents are Margarita fans, so they went with The Outer Rim. It contains Patrón Silver Tequila, Stirrings Pomegranate Liqueur, Lime Juice, Pure Cane Sugar, with Black Salt and Exotic Fruit Purée. They liked it so much that they ordered a second one. $19.50

Bespin Fizz

I went with a Bespin Fizz which contains: Bacardí Superior Rum, Yuzu Purée, Pomegranate Juice, White Cranberry Juice, and a Cloud Swirl. It was just ok. $20.50

Fuzzy Tauntaun

Matt went with the Fuzzy Tauntaun: Ketel One Botanical Peach & Orange Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps Liqueur, Orange Juice with Tangerine, Pure Cane Sugar, and 'Buzz Button Tingling' Foam. The Bartender went on and on about how Matt’s lips were going to tingle. Matt did not feel a tingle. It was just ok. $18.50

Jabba Juice

We felt like we wanted to try something else since Matt and I didn’t love ours, so Matt tried a non-alcoholic option, the Jabba Juice. Simply® Orange with Pineapple, Kiwi, Cantaloupe, and Blueberry Popping Pearls. $7.50

Close up of the pearls.

This one was our favorite and it was SO refreshing!! The pearls reminded us of boboa and they made a big show of getting them “fresh” from this “tank” from some creature.

The tank where they got the pearls for the Jabba Juice.

Batuu Bits

We were feeling peckish so we decided to order one of the two snack options. The Batuu Bits. Crispy Galaxy Snack Bits with Spiced Dip. $12. It was literally like freeze dried veggie chips and like spiced minced veggie/hummus type dip. It was tasty but not super filling.

Some Things To Know

So in summary a few key things to know:

  • Limited seating/mostly standing.

  • Must be 21 or older to consume alcohol so make sure you bring your ID.

  • Maximum of 2 drinks per guest.

  • Offerings, prices, experiences, and information are subject to restrictions and change and cancellation without notice.

  • This is a very enclosed space with low lighting and high activity.

  • There is a 45-minute limit per party.

  • Reservations are required.

Special Guests

We did get very lucky during our 45-minute experience and have some characters drop into the Cantina. Some storm troopers came in and circled around the whole bar and interacted with the patrons as they were enjoying their drinks. They were asking if we were part of the resistance and were clearly on an important mission. This is not something that happens every 45 minutes, so don’t be disappointed if this does not happen during your visit.

In Conclusion

While we enjoyed getting out of the hot sun for almost an hour, we think this is a one and done for us. For our tab of $120 we would have liked to sit down and would only reorder the Outer Rim and the Jabba Juice. Very cool ambiance especially if you are a Star Wars fan, but if you can’t get in, get some green or blue milk and keep it moving. Cheers!

Have you ever been to Oga’s Cantina before? What did you order? Did you love it? Tell us about it in the comments!
