Planning My Yearly Trip-Viking River Cruise

Everyone should have something to look forward to. Every year, My Travel Buddy and I go to a new country. We have a running list of places we want to visit, and we make time at the beginning of every year to start narrowing it down and deciding what we want to do and where we want to go. A lot of things can influence this. Our finances, the state of each country on the list, the time of year we want to travel/are able to travel, and the scoop from our travel agent.

This year we got to plan in person. Ashleigh came to visit me for the long MLK weekend (more on that and our adventures later), and our planning powers combined. We had originally intended to visit Amsterdam, and after sending an initial inquiry to our travel agent he suggested something he has suggested to us about a thousand times…a cruise. Not just any cruise, a Viking River Cruise.

Now, as this is my first post, you are not yet aware of how Ashleigh and I travel. Let me just say that we are not into groups, people, or crowds. We generally do everything by ourselves and like to do things like locals and off the beaten path (we went to South Africa by ourselves). I have shut down a cruise or group trip every single time no matter how cheap or how awesome the deal. Until now.

We decided to look into Viking and spent a few hours on their website. I also joined a few Facebook groups that gave a ton of insight (photos, itineraries, opinions, etc). After doing our research, we decided to embark on the Danube Waltz Cruise this August!! I will be sharing my planning tips along the way and all the details while onboard, as well as reviews on the tours provided (and the extra ones that we paid for).
