The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa

Just outside the lobby. The main entrance where you would stop to check in.

I recently attended a conference for work, and all of our accommodations were at the Westin Lake Las Vegas. Normally when I go to Vegas I am used to staying on the strip, but this time we stayed 27 minutes away in the scenic Henderson, NV.

Check in starts at 4pm and check out is at 11am.

Pets are welcome on the property for a $150 pet cleaning fee. No more than 2 pets per room and they must be under 45 pounds. We saw several fur babies during our stay. Some were even sitting in the chairs in the lobby bar!

Right when you walk in the main doors. Check in is to the right. Down the first set of stairs and to the left is a bar. The conference area is to the left and there are rooms and elevators on both sides.

The lobby bar.

Rick’s Cafe is a Mediterranean themed restaurant that is open for breakfast and dinner. Serving daily from 6:30am-1:30pm and again from 5:30pm-10pm. My co-workers and I had an early dinner here and while the food was ok (some had salads, some had burgers, some had club sandwiches), the service was really slow and there was a 22% service charge.

Marssa Steak & Sushi is a Japenese restaurant open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner from 5pm-9:30pm.

The Sandsa Bar & Grill is open every day from 11am-5pm for poolside fare and cocktails.

The Marrakesh Express Marketplace is the in-house Starbucks, complete with pastries and quick breakfast options. I was here every single morning for my Venti Iced Almond Milk White Chocolate Mocha. They are open every day from 6a-10a. The staff here was super-fast and friendly. Even with the long conference lines, I never waited very long, and my drink was perfect every time. They also had a selection of chips, frozen meals, bottled drinks like Gatorade, wine, and some candy and snacks.

The room was spacious and comfortable, but my favorite thing about it was the outdoor space and the view!!

The website boasts a 3.5 out of 5 rating and has over 2,000 reviews. The hotel is older but still has Westin luxury. The biggest issue for me, is that it is super far away from the strip. There were no slot machines or anything “Vegas” related about the hotel or surrounding area. It was much more of a relaxed, resort type of vibe. There is a “village” that is about a 25-minute walk with a small grocery/convenience store and a few restaurants and shops, but it feels deserted. It definitely could have been the time of year I visited.

My coworkers and I walked to the nearby grocery/convenient store, and I snapped this photo on the way.

Map showing the strip and airport versus the location of the hotel. One of my coworkers flew in at midnight and had a really hard time getting a Lyft to take her request because they did not want to dive “all the way out there”.

Hopefully my review helps you decide if this is the right place for you. Happy travels friends!
